MEDCONNECT

MEDCONNECT is a Horizon Europe project supporting the Mediterranean Basin Lighthouse of the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters”. It aims to connect and strengthen the Mediterranean innovation ecosystem, bringing together national and regional HUBs, Living Lab Systems, public authorities, researchers, businesses, investors and communities.

The project addresses all three Mission objectives: restoring marine and freshwater ecosystems, preventing and eliminating pollution, and advancing a carbon-neutral and circular blue economy.

Key project outputs

MEDCONNECT will deliver:

• 13 National HUBs and 3 Regional HUBs across the Mediterranean;
• an innovation inventory with 100+ solutions and a Mediterranean stakeholder network;
• a Digital Portal for governance, monitoring and collaboration;
• 3 Regional Living Lab Systems;
• 15 innovative solutions and Proof-of-Concept designs;
• capacity-building, investment-readiness and procurement pathways to support solution uptake and scaling.

MEDSEA’s role

MEDSEA leads Work Package 2 – Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication and acts as the National HUB for Italy.

MEDSEA will:

a) lead the project’s communication and dissemination strategy;
 b) coordinate the website, visual identity, communication materials, social media and multimedia content;
 c) support stakeholder engagement and the MEDCONNECT Community of Practice;
 d) contribute to Mission-awareness, behavioural-change and Living Lab activities;
 e) provide specific expertise on pollution prevention and elimination.

Geographical scope

Western, Central and Eastern Mediterranean, with Regional Living Lab Systems in Spain, Albania and Cyprus.
