Sara Segantin

"As a child you are more sensitive, everything slips and crystallizes down in the unconscious", says Sara Segantin, a childhood spent between the woods of Val di Fiemme in Trentino Alto Adige and the marine paradise of Sardinia.

The archetypes later became exploration, study, activism: an internship at the UN, the encounter with the endangered coral reef, the experience at Montana State University, diving, the protection of flora in Corsica, the master's degree in Literature Foreigners and Cultural Tourism in Trieste and the master in Science Communication at SISSA, the contribution to the development of the “Fridays for Future” movement in Italy. Twenty-four years, and the peremptory clarity of the objectives and the means to pursue them: “Words do change the world”.

This is how the journalistic articles were born, as the column hosted by the prestigious television program Geo & Geo, the novels, the latest of which, "We are not heroes" (Fabbri Editore), is firmly built around the environmental issue. “We have to relate the scientific and humanistic worlds, only in this way nature will become part of a collective feeling. This is what I try to do with writing, with communication. Talking to different "audiences", creating relationships, a network. Giving voice to the realities that act ”.

Hence the decision to become ambassador of the MEDSEA Foundation: “MEDSEA works, creates with great competence and transparency. Mainly in the local, but with an open look to the Mediterranean and the global dimension. Always with a great ability to listen to the territories in which it carries out its projects. Voids sometimes present themselves in the narratives concerning the environment. These are sometimes filled with incompetence and interest. Greenwashing is a threat to be countered. We can and must do it, with new narratives that intertwine reason and emotion, with a new capacity to affirm, and to listen”.
