On July 5th, TransformAr will open its doors to the public with a special Open Day event. The European Horizon 2020 project (see the project), which aims to develop transformative adaptation solutions to climate change, invites curious minds and citizens to a special event on July 5th, 2024, at its pilot site in the Terralba ponds in Marceddì. This event is also part of the Europe Green Week, an EU initiative with a calendar of international events running until September. The day is dedicated to raising awareness and engaging the public on environmental challenges and the innovative solutions needed to tackle climate change. Solutions being implemented at the San Giovanni pond will also be presented (see the related article).

Here’s the agenda for the day:
- 16:30 - Interactive Workshop for Children: An educational workshop on water conservation, the necessity to preserve water quality, and the responsible enjoyment of wetlands. The goal is to stimulate children's reflections on how human behaviors impact water usage and encourage them to be aware of their ecological footprint – the mark each of us leaves on the planet with our daily actions. Activities will be conducted partly inside the Museo del mare and partly outdoors near the museum. A snack will be provided for the children during the workshop.
- 17:00 - Guided Walking Tour: An immersive tour around the lagoon to discover its ecological importance, habitats, biodiversity, and the innovative technologies adopted to combat climate change.
- 18:30 - Presentations and Aperitif: The evening will continue with installations featuring nature photography and discussions on ecological threats and the TransformAr project solutions. This session will also present the results produced by students from the undergraduate program in Architectural Sciences at the University of Cagliari within the design workshop "Inhabited Lagoon," entirely dedicated to Marceddì.
