RICREA Project: The Fourth Steering Committee Held in Cagliari

The fourth Steering Committee of the RICREA project took place in Cagliari on 8–9 October 2025, a key event to monitor progress and strengthen collaboration among project partners.

Hosted by the Fondazione di Sardegna, the meeting gathered cross-border partners engaged in enhancing and sustainably managing coastal and river areas through Ecological Transition Contracts (CTE).

The afternoon of 8 October opened with the presentation and approval of the minutes from the previous meeting, followed by a general update on the Work Plan.

The thematic sessions focused on the project’s three main axes:

  • T1 – Capacity Building: progress in cross-border twinning, updates to Retralags contracts, and definition of sustainability plans.

  • T2 – Pilot Actions: launch of material and immaterial interventions to test innovative solutions for coastal resource management.

  • T3 – Governance: presentation of the first mapping and analysis activities on CTEs, along with awareness and outreach initiatives on territorial cooperation.

The session also reviewed the administrative and financial management of the project, including reporting and expenditure verification.
A new communication plan was approved to accompany the upcoming project phases. The first day concluded with a convivial dinner in Cagliari’s Marina district, providing an opportunity for networking among partners.

The day of 9 October was dedicated to a technical visit to the pilot site in Oristano, to observe on the ground good practices and actions related to wetland management.

The group visited the Museum of Reclamation in Arborea, where an introductory briefing was held with opening remarks by Manuela Pintus, Mayor of Arborea, and contributions from Francesca Etzi (MEDSEA) and Renzo Ponti, Mayor of Nurachi and coordinator of the Marine-Coastal Wetlands Contract of Oristano.

Manuela Puddu (MEDSEA) presented the Wetlands Observatory, while Mauro Steri (LegaCoop Sardegna) and Andrea Poggi (Consorzio Mediterraneo) illustrated ongoing actions against invasive alien species in the area.
