The Prada group has decided to support the MEDSEA Foundation for the project to restore marine ecosystems with the reforestation of Posidonia oceanica meadows in the 'Capo Carbonara' Marine Protected Area in Villasimius. The project aims to be, according to a press release, a "thank you to the Sardinian community and its environment", the catwalk of the latest SS22 menswear collection, spring-summer 2022.
The show, set on the Sardinian coast of Ogliastra and curated by the Amo studio of Rem Koolhaas, recalls a new but familiar environment at the end of a red tunnel. Lying on the sand among granite boulders or floating on the clear sea, seemingly stranded red objects enjoy the pristine landscape: a surreal encounter with nature, seaside infrastructure of another kind.
Posidonia oceanica is an endemic marine plant of the Mediterranean Sea, which provides a valuable habitat for marine species and plays a crucial role in the absorption of CO2 to help mitigate the effects of climate change.
