The Sotheby's “Life is Beautiful: Milan” charity auction of the "winglet" closed on 7 October. The crucial component in the design of the Luna Rossa AC75 boat, which was used by the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team during the 36th America's Cup, held in Auckland earlier this year, was put up for auction later last month.
Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli announced then that the proceeds from the sale would have gone to the MEDSEA project to restore the Posidonia Oceanica meadows in the Marine Protected Area of Capo Carbonara.
The winglet is an iconic piece, designed to fly over the surface of the water, and was sold for 10,080 Euros.
