The Oristano Coastal Marine Wetlands Contract is now open to the community.
Starting from October 26th, and until the beginning of May 2022, the experts of the MEDSEA Foundation will begin a participatory process to meet and discuss with everybody representing the civil, scientific and economic society of the municipalities involved in the new governance tool for wetlands and coastal areas.
A further step forwards the integrated governance following the Marine Coastal Wetlands Contract signed on February 5, 2021 by the Department of Environmental Defense of the Sardinia Region, the Province of Oristano, the Oristano Reclamation Consortium and the mayors of the eleven municipalities: Arborea, Arbus, Cabras, Guspini, Oristano, Palmas Arborea, Riola Sardo, San Vero Milis, Santa Giusta, Terralba and Nurachi.
A journey inside the wetlands community that comes at the end of five years of constant presence in the territory and cooperation with the population, involved in the numerous activities within the Maristanis Project. The project was born in 2017 for the conservation and sustainable development of the areas and communities surrounding the six Ramsar sites of the Gulf of Oristano and it’s now entering its final phase to find a governance model for the Oristano Marine Coastal Wetlands Area.
The first meeting will be held in the assembly room of Oristano province next Tuesday 26 October with the fisheries and agriculture sectors, as well as with the associations and organizations.
Here it’s the full calendar of the first series of meetings.
In November and December, the meetings with local trade associations will move throughout the territory with a stop in the municipality of Santa Giusta, Nurachi, Terralba, Arborea and Cabras, to then involve tourism companies, cultural and recreational associations, especially those carrying out their activities in close connection with the life of the wetlands.
The first cycle of meetings will close on December 16, in Oristano, with a plenary meeting with all the stakeholders involved.
