The jury, composed of Fabrizio Caramagna, writer and author, Vania Statzu, vice president MEDSEA, Francesca Figus, marketing & communication manager Nieddittas, Francesca Mattana, marketing & communication manager Riso iFerrari and Gianluca Doa, head of the Sardinia section of Afni - Association of Italian Naturalist Photographers, has chosen from the 233 photographic contributions posted in the 25 days of the contest.
Gabriele Espis (@gabriele_espis) 1st classified was choosen by the jury because “The subject of flamingos well represents wetlands, especially as a whole. Technically very successful photo as a whole that fits well with the quote. Bright colors, long times for an almost magical atmosphere”. Gabriele won the MEDSEA 1st prize, consisting in a GoPro Hero 7 – Action Camera digitale 4K HD.
The Riso iFerrari special mention went to Sandra Mas @ sandramas30 with her picture taken in the Salt ponds of Olbia, and the sentence “by walking in the nature, man receives much more than what he seeks. Pantana”. The jury find that “the photo immediately strikes and conveys peace and calm, all those emotions one feels when taking a walk through the wetlands". Sandra was awarded with a PREMIUM 24-pieces mixed rice box by iFerrari Farm.
Alberto Fozzi (@afozzi3) gained the Nieddittas Special mention with his intense picture “Wings! At the first light of dawn, everything is more magical in the wetlands ...”. The jury found particularly interesting “the use of color with shadows and reflections is striking, sunrise and sunset cannot be missed in wetlands. Essential but enchanting photo”. Alberto was awarded a kit consisting of a backpack, a hat, a water bottle and a voucher worth € 50 for online shopping in Nieddittas website.
Last but not least, Afni Sardegna assigned its own special mention to Mauro Sanna (@mauro___sanna) for his “sky + wings + moon = dream”, a magical picture with “warm tones, clean, calm, calm shot: a dream”, according to the jury. Mauro was awarded the yearly subscription to the AFNI magazine "Asferico".
The #WWDSardegna, World Wetlands Day Sardinia is a MEDSEA initiative, within the Maristanis project, towards the integrated management of the Ramsar wetlands of the Oristano, to raise awareness and advocate on the protection of coastal areas and marine ecosystems. The contest was held in February 2022, to celebrate the World Wetlands Day of February 2, 2022.
