Corrado Sorrentino will swim around Sardinia for the first time

Corrado Sorrentino, world swimming champion and MEDSEA Ambassador, who will swim around Sardinia in the next two months, begins his challenge on Friday 1 July 2022. 59 stages in an anti-clockwise direction starting from the Marina Piccola of Cagliari, at 9 am, and will follow with short stages of 12 km each, for a total of 700 km. An undertaking never attempted challenge to date, organized in recent months with tough training sessions, but above all through mental preparation.

At each stage Corrado will raise funds for the Amelia ODV foundation, dedicated to his daughter who died prematurely from a very rare disease, to finance a device for the pediatric hospital (Microcitemico) in Cagliari. He will also be accompanied by a boat at each stage, to allow him to carry out the mission safely.

"I will try to be punctual upon arrival, scheduled for 28 August again in Marina Piccola," said the 5-time world swimming champion during the press conference.

A few days ago, Corrado became MEDSEA ambassador for the sea, recognizing in the foundation some of its most important values such as respect for the sea. During the morning training sessions in June, he often collected plastic and other waste in the sea, making awareness-raising videos on Instagram dedicated to the "miraculous fishing".

A big good luck from all of us at MEDSEA!
