MEDSEA at the UN Ocean Conference, the most important global conference on the sea organized by the United Nations, which took place from 27 June to 1 July 2022 in Lisbon.

Governments, companies and businesses have brought civic experiences and considerations on the Sustainable Development Goal 14 relating to the Safeguarding of marine life through action driven by science, technology and innovation, in line with the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

Among the topics addressed, that of plastics in the sea and public and private initiatives and partnerships for the management of this waste (marine litter). A theme rather dear to MEDSEA who spoke, through the voice of the President of the Foundation, Alessio Satta, at the Altice Arena in Lisbon on 29 June to bring concrete examples of possible activities in Italy.

The event was organized by Fondation de la Mer, together with MEDSEA, The Ocean Clean Up, The Global Ghost Gear Initiative, the UN Global Compact Brazil / Norway / Portugal, The Government of the United Kingdom and The Kingdom of the Netherlands ( Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management).
