MEDSEA foundation, which has been carrying out the Maristanis project in the Oristano area in Sardinia since 2017, attended last week the yearly meeting of the MAVA steering committee. The session took place from 16 to 17 December 2021 in Châteauneuf-le-Rouge, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, and gathered together the international partners of the M3 strategy which aims to improve the conservation of the coastal wetlands.

The first round of meetings of the Coastal Contract participatory process came to an end. For two months it saw the experts of the MEDSEA Foundation, on behalf of the Coordination Group, discuss in 9 meetings and over 20 hours of listening of all the institutional, economic, cultural and environmental forces operating in the Gulf of Oristano.

Overcoming traditional marine-coastal restoration practices and developing an integrated low-carbon model, capable of systemically looking at the link that coasts maintain with rivers. The MEDSEA Foundation is part of REST-COAST, the Horizon 2020 project of the European Union which brings together the energies and skills of 38 partners, coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

The project ENSERES (ENhancing Socio-Ecological RESilience in Mediterranean coastal areas) funded by the European Union under the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation program ENI CBC Med, has kicked off in Malaga bringing together international organizations engaged in research, environmental protection, and public authorities from five countries to start the work plan for the next 24 months, until September 2023.
